The closest family took Dad from the farm to the Church at the top of the farm lane last night - to have some quiet time with him there and so that the grandchildren could say goodbye. The church was warm and welcoming, the vicar read a chapter from Watership Down and then invited the children to put their cards and presents on Dad, we all then joined them to look at what they had drawn and said and to look at the presents - Henry got up early to cook a sponge and gave Grandad a piece of that (he had promised it to him and been sad that he couldn't do), Harvey and Cai gave him a minitaure Fordson Major - his first tractor with a cab to keep him safe on the steep hills on our farm - to take with him as he always got down on the floor to play tractors with them. We walked up with an amzing orange sky behind the Brecon Beacons and returned to the farm for Welsh cakes and Bara Brith (thank you aunty Mag!) and tea. Dad would have been very proud - a lovely, touching evening where we all felt so close.
